Growing up in a very conservative family where many things are “haram”, Abdullah struggles over the years to hide his love for music.
Mohammed was born in Dubai on the 5th of July, 1990. As a teenager he became fascinated with films and idolized Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, and of course, his favorite, Marlon Brando. After High School, Mohammed attended the Sharjah Art Institute in 2013 and studied drama and acting for theatre. Upon graduating, he did a play for the Backstage community theatre in Dubai called “Sherlock Holmes and the adventure of the Suicide Club”. “Abdullah” is his first film.
Born in 1964, Mansoor Al Feeli is an Emirati actor who started out in media in 1989 through a wide range of local and regional TV projects, films, and plays. Since then Mansoor has gone on to act in a number of international short and feature films. Humaid owes a great deal of gratitude to Mr. Al Feeli and he lovingly considers him to be the godfather of the film.
Fatima Al TaeiFatima
Fatima is a gifted Emirati actress from Abu Dhabi. She has worked on many theatre productions, including the first ever professional theatre performance using UAE-based actors in Abu Dhabi's history: Resuscitation Theatre's The Seagull by Anton Chekhov. She has worked on many Film and TV productions for twofour54, MBC TV, Saudi TV, Dubai TV, OSN and Abu Dhabi TV. Fatima has also appeared in many films screened at festivals throughout the UAE. Her TV series "Sesame Street" (in Arabic) has started showing across the region. Upon seeing her live monologue, Kevin Spacey commented: "It was rich, deep, and I felt it”.
Humaid was born in Abu Dhabi in 1984. He is a graduate of the New York Film Academy (Los Angeles). “Abdullah” is his directorial debut.
Jack Elliott is an American cinematographer currently based in Los Angeles. He started his career as a cameraman in Abu Dhabi. After leaving Abu Dhabi he worked as a cameraman in Algeria and Uganda where he shot his first feature film as cinematographer. Since relocating to Los Angeles, he has continued his work on narrative films and opened his scope to documentary filmmaking which has taken him around the States, to Tunisia and to Saudi Arabia.
Producer of the upcoming Emirati feature film "Abdullah," Ahmed Lotfy, was raised predominantly in the UAE. As an expat with Egyptian heritage, who has also lived & studied in the UK, Switzerland & Canada, Lotfy has always had a keen interest in world cinema. With a background in management & business development and access to a diverse network of resources, he began his film career by taking part in small-budget productions. Alongside the cast and crew of “Abdullah,” Lotfy is excited to be part of the new wave of cinema in the Emirates and looks forward to the industry flourishing with the production of more home- grown films.
Jude Abadiproduction designer
Born in Abu Dhabi to a Syrian mother and Iraqi father, Jude Abadi grew up between Abu Dhabi, London and Toronto. She graduated from NYIT with a degree in Interior Design. Driven by a passion for cinema, she then began producing TV Shows and Documentaries in addition to dabbling in Photography. This is her first role as a Production Designer.
Mohamed Yahiaproduction manager
Starting out as an actor, Mohamed Yahia has been working on film sets since 2010 on a variety of roles both on and off camera. Most notably he has worked on the sets of two Hollywood features filmed in Abu Dhabi: "Fast & Furious 7" as well as "Star Wars Episode VII" in the casting and creatures departments respectively. He is currently preparing a script for an Emirati feature of his own while further developing his acting and film production portfolios.
